Grant

Founded in 1893 the small (889 residents) City of Grant has established itself as the southern gateway to Newaygo County’s River Country.  Grant’s Muskegon River access, through nearby Bridgeton, reflects the area’s enhancement of recreational opportunities for visitors and community members alike. These include rustic campgrounds and a special disabled-ramp approach to the River’s fishing opportunities.

Dubbed a “Farm to Table” district, Grant revels in its superb multigenerational farms, the beauty in its myriad of fruit orchards and farm-to-table restaurants, including Old Iron Bar & Grill, Fuego: A Fusion Kitchen, Ridge Cider, the first hard cider mill in Newaygo County.

Recent activities and city-driven enhancements include:

• Newly constructed Blanche Lake Park Amphitheater (Newaygo County’s ONLY water front amphitheater) resides along the lovely Blanche Lake located inside the City limits.  The Park includes a deck for fishing and the launch of canoes and kayaks, baseball diamond, picnic area with covered seating, horseshoe pits and volleyball court.
• Water Tower Park on M37 showcases one of only two historic wooden water towers remaining in Michigan.  It was once used as the backdrop in the 1973 movie, The Scarecrow, starring Al Pacino.
• Skateboard Park
• Events such as the annual Harvest Moon Festival and Christmas in Grant.
