This position requires:
A high school diploma or GED, and
Experience caring for young children, and
A willingness to participate in learning opportunities AND to pursue credentials in the field of Early Childhood Education or Child Development within 12 months of hire, and
A willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License and all other legal requirements to become a school bus driver within 3 months of hire, and
A background check for criminal offenses and child abuse/neglect.
The person in this position will be responsible for:
Collaborating with the classroom Teacher, staff and volunteers in the implementation of the Great Start Readiness Program.
Fulfilling the duties of the Associate Teacher in his/her absence from the classroom.
Fulfilling the duties of Bus Driver in his/her absence on an "as-needed" basis.
Assisting the classroom Teacher, staff and volunteers in implementing various planned activities in the classroom and outdoors, as directed by the Teacher.
Communicating with the children at their level, and participating in their structured activities utilizing positive guidance techniques.
Collaborating with other staff to assist children in acquiring self-help skills as appropriate for their level of development.
Partnering with the classroom Teacher and other classroom staff to complete required documentation.
Setting up, cleaning and maintaining the classroom and playground.
Riding the bus, as assigned, to assist the Bus Driver in getting children on and off the bus safely and in a timely manner.
Participating in staff in-service training and various staff development opportunities, as required.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE CANDIDATES WHO POSSESS A VALID SCHOOL BUS DRIVER CREDENTIAL (CDL).
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE CANDIDATES WHO ARE BILINGUAL (SPANISH/ENGLISH).
