Join us as we welcome author and true-crime historian Tobin T. Buhk for a fascinating look at Prohibition in Michigan on November 12 at 6:00PM!
Step back into the Roaring Twenties, when Detroit was known as the wettest city on Earth and Michigan became a haven for bootleggers, gangsters, and organized crime. Discover the mobsters and criminal gangs who helped turn Michigan into a gangster’s paradise, including the infamous Purple Gang, Port Huron Gang, and Owl Creek Gang.
Through captivating stories, never-before-seen photographs, and archival materials, Buhk will bring this turbulent and often surprising chapter of Michigan history to life. If you enjoy true crime, history, and the darker side of the past, you won’t want to miss this presentation!
Located in the Newaygo City Chamber Room.
This event is sponsored by Michigan Arts and Culture Council.
