Did you know there are over 8,500 Newaygo County residents currently living in poverty? And even if working families get a raise or promotion, the increase in income can lead to a sudden loss of public support benefits like meals at school for their children. Often the loss in benefits totals more than the increase in income, something known as the Cliff Effect.
Join us at the Circles Big View meeting on July 19 to learn more about the Cliff Effect, its impact on individuals and families in poverty, and what we can do as community members to create solutions.
The meeting will be held at Newaygo United Church of Christ (432 Quarterline Street, Newaygo) from 6-8 p.m. A community dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:40 p.m.
To RSVP, contact Lindsey Slater at Fremont Area Community Foundation at 231.924.5350 or lslater@facommunityfoundation.org.
