Mermaid Theatre presents "Goodnight Moon" and "Runaway Bunny" at Dogwood

On Friday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m., Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s elegant stage adaptations of “Goodnight Moon” and “The Runaway Bunny” will be performed on the Dogwood Center Main Stage. With the objective of introducing very little children to their first performing arts experience, the production also works to encourage literacy and the love of reading, and has acquainted thousands of young people and their parents with Nova Scotia and its talented artists.
 
Mermaid Theatre has earned international acclaim for its unique interpretations of many children’s books.  Their widely-traveled productions incorporate innovative puppetry, striking scenic effects, and evocative original music to provide young audiences with an effortless introduction to the performing arts and the excitement of reading. 
 
“Goodnight Moon” is a celebration of familiar night-time rituals, while “The Runaway Bunny’s” pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring responses from his loving mom.  Both tales feature endearing rabbit characters, and the soothing rhythms of bunny banter and dream-like imagery.  Mermaid Theatre’s staged adaptations will bring a new sense of appreciation to stories that have delighted several generations. 
 
The performance will be one hour with no intermission and kids are welcome to come in their favorite pajamas and enjoy the show!
