Small Business Saturday is Saturday, November 24th and the River Country Chamber of Commerce of Newaygo County is committed to you; our membership! As we continue to recognize the uniqueness of our Membership, and spotlight the locally produced products, foods, goods and services that make up an important part of our community. We are working to put together Small Business Saturday Shop Small inserts for various retail, restaurant and service members - watch your email for details!
So what can we as a Chamber, along with our neighbors really accomplish?Keep our community unique: Where we shop, where we eat and have fun -- all of it makes our community home. Our one-of-a-kind businesses are an integral part of the distinctive character of this place called Newaygo County. Our tourism businesses also benefit. "When people go on vacation, they generally seek out destinations that offer them the sense of being someplace, not just anyplace.", says Richard Moe, President, the National Historic Preservation Trust. The "Buy Local First" signs are available to all members. If you don't have one and would like one please stop by the Chamber Office to pick yours up. We also have stakes if you would like to put your sign outside, or they can be put in windows or entry ways.Invest in community: Local businesses are owned by people who live here, are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community's future.Encourage local prosperity: A growing body of economic research shows that in an increasingly homogenized world, entrepreneurs and skilled workers are more likely to invest and settle in communities that preserve their one-of-a-kind businesses and distinctive character. The communities of the River Country Chamber of Commerce of Newaygo County are that kind of place, and we want to continue to build on local successes!Support community groups: Non-profit organizations receive an average 250% more support from smaller business owners than they do from large businesses."Buy Local First" signs are available for Chamber Members to pick up at the Chamber Office at 1 State Rd. (2nd floor of the Stream Bldg) . We would like to encourage you to display your sign starting Monday November 19th through January 7th. They look great in a window display or by your sales counter.
Small Business Saturday gear, we have a small supply of bags, floor-mats, balloons and signs available to share with our members. Give us a call to set up a time to pick some up (while supplies last)
