Choir Accompanist Aide

Position: Accompanist/Aide
Beginning: As soon as possible (4.5 hours/day, 2 days a week, 7-10 performances a year)
 
Under the direction of the vocal music teacher, accompany school choirs during rehearsals and concerts. Assist the director in the leading of sectional rehearsals and small group ensembles.
 
Duties:

• Perform piano accompaniments for rehearsals and performances of school choirs
• Lead sectional rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas and providing correct notes and rhythms
• Play in varying styles such as, but not limited to: Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, World Music, and Musical Theater
• Play in varying time signatures and keys

• Advanced piano skills
• Advanced music theory
• Understanding of vocal techniques
• Site reading
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
