    The High School Language Arts Teacher provides instruction that helps students develop strong skills in reading, writing, communication, analysis, and critical thinking. The teacher encourages students to engage with a wide range of literature and informational texts while building the skills necessary for academic success, effective communication, and lifelong learning.
    Essential Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction for high school students
    • Develop lessons that strengthen reading comprehension, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills
    • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
    • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families
    • Maintain accurate student records and grading information
    • Integrate technology and a variety of instructional resources into classroom learning
    • Encourage student discussion, collaboration, and independent thinking
    • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and student achievement
    • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities as required
     
    Qualifications
    • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate English Language Arts endorsement
    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field
    • Strong instructional, communication, and classroom management skills
    • Knowledge of current literacy standards and instructional best practices
    • Experience working with high school students preferred
    • Bilingual preferred
